Global Forum on Public Governance
The OECD and the Dutch National Integrity Office organized a Global Forum on Public Governance “Building a Cleaner World: Tools and Good Practices for Fostering a Culture of Integrity”on 4-5 May 2009 in Paris.
A short interview with the keynote speakers'.
Decision-makers face continuous challenges in the field of integrity, transparency and accountability. In this time of global financial crisis, the integrity of public officials remains under constant public scrutiny and affects trust in government. To maintain or regain trust, countries increasingly invest their efforts in fostering integrity, transparency and accountability in public sector organisations.
The Forum will review the key challenges decisions makers face and foster dialogue across countries to share lessons learned and discuss up-to-date solutions.
OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria and EC Vice-President Siim Kallas will open the Global Forum plenary session. This session will highlight approaches and strategies to fostering integrity through good governance measures with a special reference to the EUPAN catalogue of ‘Promising Practices in the Field of Integrity and Anti-corruption’, which will be presented by the Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations of the Netherlands Roos van Erp-Bruinsma. The opening session will be followed by parallel workshop sessions for a structured dialogue on two overarching themes: ‘Key components for building a consistent Integrity Framework’ and ‘Vulnerable processes and corruption risk assessment’.
